MD-4: 4-Input, 4-Output Analog-to-Dante Interface
4-input, 4-output analog-to-Dante interface with headphone monitor. Connects four microphone or level-level inputs to a Dante audio network. Additionally, four Dante signals can output to balanced analog. Inputs or outputs can be routed to headphones for signal monitoring and metering. Includes IEC C19 AC power cable.
Main Benefits
- Four front-panel, balanced, analog, mic or line level inputs with 48 V phantom power and high-pass filter
- Inputs accept mic or line level, and appear as Dante sends (transmit)
- Eight-segment LED meter for each input
- Four Dante signals (receiver) to four rear-panel XLR balanced-analog outputs
- Headphone monitoring with LED level meters, with front and rear panel headphone output
- Built-in AC power supply (100-240 V, 50/60 Hz on IEC C14) or 11-18 VDC powering (4-pin XLR)
- Durable 1-U rackmount chassis

Sound Devices Unveils The MD-4
The MD-4 analog-to-Dante audio interface is the perfect tool to add four mic/line inputs and four analog outputs to the 970 or other Dante-based audio network.
REEDSBURG, WI, APRIL 21, 2017 – Sound Devices introduces the
MD-4 Analog-to-Dante Audio Interface for NAB Show 2017. The MD-4 is a simple, high-performance interface that connects analog audio to Dante
™ audio networks. It offers four high-gain microphone or line-level inputs and four balanced analog outputs. Inputs or outputs can be routed to either headphone jack (front or back panel) for signal monitoring, with LED metering.
“Audinate’s Dante has become a popular interconnection for both program audio as well as communication channels. Our 970, a 64-track audio recorder, and our PIX 270i production video recorder offer Dante connectivity. The MD-4 is the perfect companion to those rack-mount recorders or any Dante-enabled system,” said Jon Tatooles, co-founder of Sound Devices, LLC.
The MD-4 inputs have a 70 dB gain range and include selectable phantom power and high-pass filter. Each input has an LED level meter adjacent to its front panel input. Outputs are on back-panel-mounted XLR connectors.
The 1U rack-mountable MD-4 can be powered from either 100-240 VAC or 10-18 VDC on four-pin XLR. This powering flexibility allows the MD-4 to be equally at home in both fixed and mobile applications.
Audinate’s Dante audio-over-Ethernet has emerged as a new standard for high-performance digital audio networks. It offers numerous benefits to users in live production, systems installation, and broadcast. Being fully Dante compatible, the MD-4 takes advantage of the low system latency and scalable topology of Dante.
