The MSTC is particularly impressive in that it usually also gives very good results without spot microphones. In addition, its placement is relatively unimportant, making it suitable for the rather inexperienced or hasty user. Set-up is quick and easy, because only a single stand and cable are required and the capsule distance and the offset angle of the capsules to each other don’t need be adjusted.

OCT stands for "Optimized Cardioid Triangle."
It is a method for picking up the three front channels of a surround recording.

The ORTF-2plus2 setup was developed as a 4-channel "spot microphone" for 3D audio recording. It captures sound sources and atmos with vertical and horizontal extension. It is part of the SCHOEPS 'ORTF' series, similar to the 'ORTF Stereo', 'ORTF Surround' and 'ORTF-3D' setups.
The 4 channels of the ORTF-2plus2 are routed to 2 adjacent stereo channels and their corresponding height channels, e.g. to L, R + Lh, Rh.
